Getting Started

For Gas Carts flowing 3 AMPS and Under

Carts MUST have

  • Dashboard Ignition ONLY
and a 3” x 3” space for the device

  • 2 Wire Ignition ONLY with
2.5” behind the dashboard for our secure fastening mechanism

  • NO Steering Column Ignition

Before You Begin

Before replacing your golf cart's existing key switch, verify that all of the following conditions are met:

  • Your existing key switch has only two ignition wires connected to it.*

  • Your existing key switch does not mechanically lock the steering column.

  • Your golf cart's operating voltage does not exceed 70 V.

  • You have the necessary tools, experience, and electrical knowledge to safely perform this installation.

  • Follow all applicable electrical safety practices.

  • Disconnect the battery whenever possible before performing any wiring. XiQ is not responsible for damage, injury, or loss resulting from improper installation or misuse.

* Exception: Some Club Car Precedent GAS models.

Installation

1. Remove the Dashboard

Remove the dashboard or access panel to expose the existing key switch and wiring.

2. Identify the Wiring

Using a voltmeter, identify and verify:

  • Ground

  • Constant battery voltage (12-70 V)

The constant voltage must be present whether the golf cart is turned ON or OFF.

3. Replace the Existing Key Switch

Install the XiQ unit in place of the existing key switch.

4. Connect the Wiring

The wiring order is critical. Make the connections as follows:

  • Black → Ground

  • Red → Constant battery voltage (12-70 V)

  • Green → One of the two ignition switch wires

  • Blue → The remaining ignition switch wire

After all connections have been completed, verify that the wiring is secure before restoring power.
